The Queensland Multicultural Awards

National Stroke Week -
FAST
Research indicates that at least 1.3
million
Australians
who are aged over 40 might not recognise the signs of stroke in
themselves or others. National Stroke Week runs from September
15 to 21 and aims to educate people of the signs of stroke.
FAST stands for Facial weakness, Arm weakness,
Speech difficulties, Time to act FAST.

Interest Rates Capped at
48%
From 31st July 2008, a maximum cap of
48% per
annum,
including interest, fees and charges, will apply to consumer credit
contracts in Queensland. The interest rate cap puts a limit on
the amount of interest that can be charged on a loan. Prior to
this, there was no cap on interest rates in Queensland and lenders
could charge very high interest rates on loans.
