PRIME MINISTER KEVIN RUDD'S VISIT TO WESTFIELD STRATHPINE (NOVEMBER 2007)
On 23rd November 2007 Linda joined Federal Labor candidate for the seat of Dickson, Fiona McNamara in welcoming soon-to-be-elected Prime Minister Kevin Rudd to Westfield Strathpine.
HIGH TEA AT PARLIAMENT HOUSE (NOVEMBER 2007)
On 2nd November 2007 Linda was joined at Parliament House for High Tea by Aunty Honor Cleary, Lynn Cameron, Joan Matthews, Julie Ferguson, May Willis, Maureen Sands, Dawn Chappel, Esther Wilson, Janice Bryant, Eileen Horne and Lorraine Perry.
PRESENTATION OF ORDER OF AUSTRALIA ASSOCIATION CITIZENSHIP AWARD TO EATONS HILL STATE SCHOOL (NOVEMBER 2007)
Linda was privileged to witness the presentation of an Order of Australia Association Citizenship Award by Her Excellency Ms Quentin Bryce, AC Governor of Queensland to Eatons Hill State School at Parliament House recently. The awards recognise school based projects and practices that promote good citizenship and awareness of the Australian Honours system. The school was recognised for their observance of Anzac Day and citizenship education.
ALBANY CREEK CRUSHERS ANNUAL TROPHY DAY (OCTOBER 2007)
On Sunday 14th October Linda was on hand to help present trophies at the Albany Creek Crushers Annual Trophy Day. Linda was joined by Minister for Education, the Honourable Rod Welford and Federal Labor candidate for the seat of Dickson, Fiona McNamara.
ZONTA WOMEN IN BUSINESS EXPO (OCTOBER 2007)
On Sunday 14th October 2007 Linda, along with State Member for Aspley, Bonny Barry and Federal Labor candidate for the seat of Dickson, Fiona McNamara, shared a stall at the Zonta Women in Business Expo held at the Strathpine Community Centre. Zonta is a worldwide service organisation of executives in business and the professions working together to improve the legal, political, economic, educational, health and professional status of women.
OFFICIAL OPENING OF PINE RIVERS PROBATION AND PAROLE OFFICE (OCTOBER 2007)

On Thursday 4th October 2007 Linda joined the Honourable Judy Spence, Minister for Police and Corrective Services in officially opening the new Pine Rivers Probation and Parole Office. The new office will be used to supervise offenders serving probation, community service or parole orders. Read MEDIA RELEASE
PINE RIVERS COURTHOUSE ON TRACK (SEPTEMBER 2007)

Linda was recently invited to tour the 'in progress' Pine Rivers Courthouse by Garry Robinson from the Department of Justice and Attorney-General. Linda can advise that work is on track and is due for completion by March 2008.
OFFICIAL OPENING OF PREP FACILITIES AND RECYCLED WATER PROJECT AT EATONS HILL STATE SCHOOL (SEPTEMBER 2007)

On Friday 14th September 2007, Eatons Hill State School was lucky enough to have newly appointed Queensland Premier, the Honourable Anna Bligh visit and help State Member for Kurwongbah, Linda Lavarch and Minister for Education, the Honourable Rod Welford officially open the new prep facilities and the recycled water program.
LAUNCH OF NEW BUS SERVICES AT EATONS HILL STATE SCHOOL CARNIVAL (SEPTEMBER 2007)
On Saturday 1st September 2007, State Member for Kurwongbah, Linda Lavarch helped TransLink to launch the new bus services for Eatons Hill, Cashmere and Warner residents. The new services were officially launched at the Eatons Hill State School Carnival. The service changes will commence on Monday 3rd September 2007. OPENING OF REFURBISHED FOOD TECHNOLOGY CENTRE AT MT MARIA COLLEGE (AUGUST 2007)
On
14th August, State Member for Kurwongbah, Linda Lavarch officially
opened the newly refurbished Food Technology Centre at Mt Maria College, Petrie
and said the opening marked another important milestone in the college’s 20-year
history.
PINE RIVERS SHOW (AUGUST 2007)
Once again Linda shared a stall at the Pine Rivers Show with State Member for Aspley, Bonny Barry and Labor Senator for Queensland Claire Moore. Linda was also joined at the stall by Federal Labor candidate for the seat of Dickson, Fiona McNamara and Labor candidate for the Senate, Mark Furner. Linda's famous showbags were filled with goodies as usual and were a big hit with the kids.
OFFICIAL OPENING OF NEW PETRIE RAILWAY STATION CAR PARK (JULY 2007)
Better
facilities at Petrie Railway Station became a reality today with the opening of
a new car park providing an additional 106 car parks available for Citytrain
passengers, bringing the total available parking to 562 spaces including six
reserved for people with disabilities.
State Members for Kurwongbah, Linda Lavarch and Murrumba, Dean Wells today cut the ribbon in a ceremony held in the new car park.
DAYBORO DAY FESTIVAL (MAY 2007)
On
27th May Linda attended the annual Dayboro Day Festival. The day started
with the Combined Church Service and was followed by the Dayboro Day Art
Competition which Linda helped judge. Linda also helped to present the
Community Awards. Linda was joined at the Festival by (from right to left)
Labor candidate for the Senate, Mark Furner, Senator Claire Moore and Labor
candidate for the seat of Dickson, Fiona McNamara.
PINE RIVERS RELAY FOR LIFE (MARCH 2007)

On March 24 Linda participated in the Pine Rivers Relay for Life. Linda was part of the Australian Labor Party / National Union of Workers Team. The team raised over $16,000 for the Queensland Cancer fund.
LIONS YOUTH OF THE YEAR QUEST (FEBRUARY 2007)
Linda was a judge at the Lions Youth of the Year Quest on February 24th and 26th. The Lions Youth of the Year Quest is designed to encourage, foster and develop leadership in conjunction with other citizenship qualities in our youth, at the age when they are about to enter the fields of employment or higher education, and provides students with the incentive to pay greater attention to the general qualities, so vital in developing our youths into first class citizens. The qualities sought, apart from academic attainments are those of leadership, personality, sportsmanship, public speaking and good citizenship.
ANAM CARA'S 5TH BIRTHDAY CELEBRATIONS (FEBRUARY 2007)
On 14th February Linda attended Anam Cara's 5th birthday celebrations. The celebrations involved the unveiling of the Eden quilt and the sealing of a time capsule to be opened at Anam Cara's 25th birthday celebrations. Linda also unveiled a 5 year celebratory plaque. Linda said "Anam Cara provides a valuable service to the community and have enriched the environment in which we live".
NEW AMBULANCE VEHICLE A BOOST FOR PETRIE PARAMEDICS (JANUARY 2007)
Paramedics in the Pine Rivers region received a boost today with the official handover of a new $160,000 ambulance vehicle. The Emergency Services Minister and Linda handed over the keys in a ceremony at the Petrie ambulance station. The Ford F350 is a dual-stretcher vehicle and is fitted with state-of-the-art patient care equipment. Linda said the new vehicle would be a great boost for the response capability in the region.
